What have you been doing for the past 2 weeks? Have you been productive? or are you bored of sitting all day, scrolling on social media? The Enhanced Community Quarantine has brought the best and the worst in the Filipino, and with the government extending the ECQ until April 30, people are more confused of what to do to help out the situation.

That is why we came up with a list of 5 ways of how to make a difference in this period of stillness. This is a time for each of us can ponder and think that if we helped each other out, we can come out as a more united and better Filipino as we move forward as a Nation.

MAKING THE DIFFERENCE

When you're stuck at home, there are a lot of distractions that we tend to spend most of our time on Social Media, Netflix, YouTube and playing games. We get to forget the reality that is happening outside. We now have now an opportunity to help and really make a difference in our situation as a country.

Below is a list of contrasting ideas of what we spend most our time versus the Opportunities of what we can do better to improve ourselves and the help others.

1. Donate instead of Horde.
One of the first things I noticed a few weeks before the ECQ was Hording of Alcohol, Masks and other medical equipment...even Bananas! The ECQ has affected the poor is their limited access to their basic needs. Poor families have no work, no savings and dependent to government subsidy.

If you have some extra financial resources, why not donate to make an impact. Listed below are some links to donate and help:

A. Caritas Manila
B. Project Pearls
C. Ateneo de Manila
D. #maytwentyako
E. #taratulongtayo

2. Volunteer and move instead of sitting in front of our smartphones and Televisions.

Smartphones and Netflix can help us stay home but it separates us from the realities of the COVID19 Pandemic

If you know of a certain organization and you want to have a more pro-active way of helping. Here are some ideas we can make one.

1. Organize creating Face Shields
2. Volunteers sa barangay or NGOs in repacking services.
a. ivolunteer
b. DSWD to wrap food packs

3. Share valuable information instead of gossips and useless memes.

Sharing information such as how to volunteer, or information drive to how to take care of your health, making a cloth mask and many more. This is a more productive effort that spending time on memes and gossiping online. this will not provide a positive impact on others.

4. Stay at home and learn something new instead of going out for a secret drinking session.

If the previous suggestions does not apply to you, Staying at home would be the best decision to make a difference. Learn a skill, play an instrument, make important connections thru LinkedIn, join free webinars. These are just some of the possible things you can improve on.

5. Support our front-liners instead of Dancing online!

We know that the Tikotok culture has already taking over the Filipino households. But you can use tiktok as a form to encouragement to all front-liners and those who are sick because of the virus. We as Filipinos will always find humor in any situation. This quality makes us unique among all other cultures in the world. Below are some of the links you can contact to help our front-liners:
              a. Tulong Kabataan
              b. PGH
              c. Kaya Natin! Movement

What we have now is a very valuable commodity that we could not waste...TIME.
If we can use this valuable asset that we have to more productive direction, we can make a difference in the community around us and is also an opportunity for some self improvement.

If you have any suggestions on how else we can make a difference, please leave a comment, or share this post to your social media platforms...we would appreciate it.
