DOH Releases COVID 19 Update

The heart of the Holy Week has arrived and the Department of Health has released its updated statistics for the COVID 19 pandemic in the Philippines as of 4pm today.

The latest numbers show a total of 4,076 total number of COVID cases. We stand 35th in the world rankings as to the total number of COVID cases, with the US having the most with 435,167 as of the writing of this post. This is a far cry to the worlds total number of cases as it reached at 1.5M cases.

The recent numbers also reveals that we have a total of 124 recoveries and 203 deaths, with 21 new casualties as of today.

Comparing to our Southeast Asian neighbors, we are ranked 2nd as to the total number of infected individuals behind Malaysia. We are also 2nd behind Indonesia with the total number of deaths within our Southeast Asia and 6th in Asia.

One important statistic is that we lead Southeast Asia in the total number of active cases, which is also 7th in Asia with 3,749 cases. This is in the light that we have not done mass testing yet, which could push our numbers up.

In a statement earlier, Secretary Francisco Duque highlighted that we are one of the lowest in terms of per 1 Million Population in the world reflecting the governments efforts to flatten the curve.

Filipinos continue to stand united as the President extends the ECQ until the end of April. A prayerful week ahead as he reiterated that to God we can only trust.
