February was action packed when Nonito Donaire knocked out Fernando Montiel for the bantamweight belts.
A few days ago, another bantamweight waved a win for flag and country to cap off a spectacular Month for Philippie Boxing. Ana "the Hurricane" Julaton came off an impressive win against an experienced Franchesca "the chosen one" Alcanter to defend her WBO super Bantamweight title.
This Alcanter sure is a little bit bigger and stronger than Ana, but boxing is not just about strength or size, speed and skills play a big factor in the game.
As for the name "the chosen one" well "The hurricane" did "chose" Alcanter's face, as she left her nosebled and swollen after 10 rounds. She won in unanimous decision, and improved 8W-2L-1D.
She might have her next fight in Philippine soil after she recovers from her recent bout.
